Professional Journey

How did you first get started in the financial services industry?

Growing up, my dad worked in the financial industry and hoped I would follow in his footsteps because he believed I was a "numbers girl." Instead, I followed my dream, and my mother's example, by becoming a teacher. I taught fourth grade for six years before Les and I started our family.

As it turns out, you can only stay away from the financial world for so long! Between my dad's career and being married to Les, I found my way into the industry after all.

How did you come to work with Smith Complete Wealth?

After dedicating eight years to raising our children at home, I was excited to begin a new chapter once they started school. With a natural passion for organizational and managerial tasks, joining Smith Complete Wealth as Office Manager was a perfect fit. I love ticking off to-do items and getting tasks of any size done to help our team and clients.

What has been the most rewarding part of working at Smith Complete Wealth so far?

The most rewarding part has definitely been seeing the mutual love and respect between Les and his clients. I have enjoyed being a part of the fun and personal conversations that occur in the office. We love it when people come to see us!

Philosophy & Connection

What's the best investing lesson you've learned from our advisors or your own personal investment journey?

As the spouse of a financial advisor, I've gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of financial education. The greatest lesson I've learned is to stay informed not only about the markets, but also about your own accounts, investments, and financial goals. Knowledge has created confidence for me.

When clients think about working with you years from now, what do you hope they'll remember most?

For a long time, many clients recognized me only as the face on the Christmas card. Now, I hope they know me for something much more meaningful: a warm smile, a caring heart, and a genuine interest in their lives. I truly love getting to know our clients and think of them as an extension of our family, just as Les does.

Life Beyond the Office

Where did you grow up?

I was born in Buffalo, New York, which Les claims is one of the reasons he knew he wanted to marry me... Go Bills! However, my family moved to Brentwood, Tennessee, when I was only 18 months old, so I've spent nearly my entire life here. While I'll always cheer for Buffalo, I consider myself a Nashville native through and through.

What keeps you busy outside of the office?

Most of my free time is spent serving as the chauffeur for our two very active kids and keeping up with their busy schedules. When I do find a little time for me, I love spending it with my family and volunteering at the kids' school whenever I can. Supporting their teachers and being involved in the school is something I truly enjoy as a former teacher myself.

I'm also an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoy everything from group fitness classes and strength training to yoga.

You'll often find me exploring local coffee shops around Spring Hill. 1819 is my favorite—the atmosphere simply can't be beat. My go-to drink is an almond milk latte with cinnamon powder. I order it so often that even my kids could repeat this order to any barista.

When it's time to unwind, I love curling up with our chihuahua, Junie, and a good book. Historical fiction, romantic comedies, and thrillers are always at the top of my reading list.

Favorite food in Middle Tennessee...go!

Viking Pizza. Specifically, the Ragnarok with a giant M&M cookie.

If you had to have any other job, what would you do?

I would love to work with an adult literacy program. Literacy is especially important to me because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to read. The ability to read opens doors to learning, confidence, and independence.
